Josh Dotzler has made some changes in the offseason. He's been working extra hard to get back to where he was two season ago as one of the top freshman in the Missouri Valley. From what I've seen, he's well past that. Dotzler has been dedicated to working out and working on his game. He hit the gym hard after the season and has become much bulkier. In addition his offense seems to be much more aggressive. I had a chance to watch him play yesterday at Omaha South in the Council Bluffs Summer Draft League. He moved the ball up the court quickly and drove strong to the basket numerous times in traffic. He seemed to be a lot more confident in his shot as well.
If you recall, Josh struggled last season, especially offensively. He went through two surgeries and had a pin placed in his finger, which tampered with his shot. I've heard countless people (mostly friends of mine) talk down about him and express that they didn't think he was very good. This is ridiculous, and I can't wait for him to prove it this season. I expect Dotzler to run the offense, be the team leader and play stellar D. Don't forget that not-to-long-ago he was named the Nebraska High School Player of the year twice in a row. The Bluejays have had some key losses and it's hard to replace guys like Nate Funk, but the more I watch the Bluejays, the more I can't help but think that they'll be a lot better than everyone thinks they will. Too bad Miles is gone.
