Dane Dominates

Senior Dane Watts tooled Mississippi Valley State on Saturday for 26 points and 9 rebounds in 25 minutes. The Delta Devils tried to sneak back in the game early in the second half, but the Jays were able to hold them off and eventually provide themselves with a comfortable lead.

Through two games, Watts has consistently been a leader on the floor. In game one, when the Bluejays could not find any rhythm, it was Watts that battled down low to force points on the board. They will need a strong performance from him next week when Creighton hosts the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

From on point of view, you can say that the Bluejays are fortunate that they don't have to rely on one or two players every game. There are a few guys that can step up and make a difference. Namely Watts, Stinnet, and Millard. Stinnet had two steals on Saturday, showing that he can consistently play well on both sides of the ball.

If things go well against the Huskers next week, you can look forward to Creighton creeping up into the top 25 in the polls. The only question is how long they can stay there. They need to find an identity before conference play begins.
