First half thrashing allows Creighton to hold off Nebraska

The Bluejays were able to fend off the Huskers second half comeback to sustain a 74 - 62 victory. The first half was all Creighton. Creighton forced 17 first-half turnovers with their suffocating press defense. Josh Dotzler ended the game with five steals. At the end of the half, the Bluejays were up 47 - 20 on the Huskers.

The second half was mostly dominated by the Huskers. With a few minutes remaining in the game, the Huskers were as close as nine points down. In the end, Creighton was able to hold them off and win the in-state rivalry. Dane Watts and Cavel Witter led the Jays with 14 points each.

Looking back at this game, its nice to see this young team get a big win. Realistically, Creighton is 3 - 0 now and has looked a lot better than what I expected to see. Cavel Witter continues to impress. His minutes are increasing and he is always doing something positive when he is on the floor. It is great to have to solid point guards in Witter and Dotzler, who both have different styles.

I was hoping to see Creighton as an honorable mention for the top 25, but that did not happen. I guess they'll need to win a bigger game to get considered.
