Ouch. I'm sure the Jays are still feeling the sting that Drake left behind after defeating them on their own court last Tuesday. The overtime loss brings the total to two in-conference defeats at the Qwest this season.
Now Creighton must head to Carbondale to take on the Saluki's in an environment that is almost impossible to win at. I'm sure you've heard about Southern Illinois only losing one conference game at home since 2001, but it's a stat that's just too good not to mention. I wouldn't count on a win for the Bluejays, but stealing one from Southern Illinois at home would almost make up for the gut-wrenching loss they have recently suffered.
Unfortunately, a loss to the Saluki's tomorrow puts Creighton right back into a vulnerable position - between the top and the bottom of the Valley teams. It's obvious, however, that Creighton is among the elite teams in their conference. Drake is an extremely solid team all around and the Jays played with them for the entire game. In fact, they were one rebound away from winning that game and one shot attempt from ending it in regulation.
Maybe I'm taking this loss too hard, but it just hurts to see Creighton losing twice already at home this early in conference play. I'm confident that they'll have a strong showing in Carbondale and be back on top soon.
