Doors are Open for the Jays

Opportunities are arising for the Creighton Bluejays. An announcement Monday locked the Jays into a tv spot for their Bracket Buster game against Oral Roberts University. They will play on ESPN2 at 2 pm on February 23. More on Creighton's 2008 Bracket Buster game versus Oral Roberts.

That's not the only recognition the Bluejays have received lately. P'Allen Stinnet was named the MVC Player of the Week. Along side of him, Booker Woodfox was name the MVC Newcomer of the Week.

Aside from recognition, the Jays recent transformation has open the doors for a shot at the Big Dance. If they keep playing they way they are now, they'll have a decent shot at placing second in the regular season conference standings and sneaking into the field of 65. And even if they hit some speed bumps along they way, Creighton is certainly playing well enough right now to go down to St. Louis and win the Arch Madness tournament. Every week USA Today puts out an article listing the bubble teams and whether or not they'd be in if the season ended on a given day. Last week Creighton was not even listed, but they appeared this week. I know that doesn't mean much, but the "experts" are starting to notice that Jays are in a great position to make a run. By the way , if you happen to take a look at the article you'll notice that Creighton's record is inaccurate. They have them listed as 15-7 overall, when they are actually 17-6. Maybe they're hiring for an editor.
